Our Process
Buying a home has never been so easy. From your first call until you move into your new home, Craft Cottage Builders is ready to help you navigate every step of the way. From helping you find property for your home to guiding you through options, we have your back.
-
Your new home journey begins when you give us a call or reach out through our contact form. We'll talk with you about your needs and what you're looking for in a new home and ask some questions about your living situation – all with the goal of helping you find the floorplan that's right for you.
-
From there, we’ll proceed to get you prequalified for a Craft Cottages home. If you need help with financing, we offer an in house mortgage company: PrimePoint Mortgage.
-
If you already have land to build on, we’ll proceed to the next step of the process; if you don’t, we’ll help you find land and help you take the steps you need to package your land purchase into your home loan.
-
Our team will walk you through the options and help you decide what features and finishes will work best for you. When we’re done, you’ll have a turnkey price, and we'll secure permits and begin work on your home.
-
While the crew in our factory gets to work building your home, our site preparation partner will start to work on your land – clearing, grading, building the foundation for your home, and installing a septic system and/or well if needed.
-
Once your lot is ready and your new home is finished, our builder partner will deliver it and install it – and you’ll be ready to move in!
What Does Site Preparation Look Like?
Site preparation for a Craft Cottage Builders home is the same as for a site-built home. Our dedicated crews and partners will:
- Clear your land, removing trees, undergrowth, rocks, or any other obstructions to construction.
- Level and grade the lot to ensure proper drainage and siting for your foundation.
- Build a solid foundation on which to place your new home. The foundation will be built on concrete footers and feature block foundation walls and piers. If you choose the option, we can finish your foundation walls with brick veneer for a more luxurious look.
- Install a septic system if a municipal sewer isn’t available.
- Install a well if municipal water isn’t available.

What Does Home Installation Look Like?
You’ve never seen a home built with such efficiency, ensuring quality in a timely manner.
- Your home will arrive in two sections. Each section has been finished to a certain degree inside and out, and then will be joined. The roof will be flat against the top of the home, using our unique hinged truss system.
- Cranes will lift the sections of your home into place on the foundation, and massive lag bolts will be used to tie the structure of the sections together.
- The roof will be raised into place and tied together. New shingles will be installed.
- The Hardie siding will be completed around the house, leaving no unsightly lines or breaks.
- Any interior joints will be closed and finished to leave a completely seamless look.
- All electrical, plumbing, and HVAC connections will be made.
